1. COLOR AS THE ULTIMATE HEALER
It's an ancient healing practice that dates back to the earliest civilizations, where colors were revered for their sacred and medicinal properties.
Just like music, each color resonates at a unique frequency that stimulates different parts of our being. Some colors soothe, while others energize; some lift our mood, while others calm our mind.
Imagine standing in front of a beautiful rainbow, feeling its vibrant colors wash over you. The warm reds, oranges, and yellows infuse you with vitality, passion, and confidence. The calming blues, greens, and purples envelop you in serenity, clarity, and intuition.
Color healing uses this power of color to restore balance and harmony to our bodies, minds, and spirits.
*I start by choosing high-grade pigment paints, and over many sittings build up the layers to generate a captivating vividness that is particularly luminous in oil paintings.
2. NERVOUS SYSTEM RECALIBRATION THROUGH EYE MOVEMENT
Eye movement in viewing artwork is influenced by the arrangement of objects in the picture plane, as well as the depth and scope of the picture, which guides the viewer's gaze in a specific pattern.
Engaging in this back-and-forth movement between focusing on details and the overall composition can have a healing effect on the nervous system. This is akin to ‘Brainspotting’, a therapeutic technique, involves oscillating one's gaze between near and far distances, triggering a shift from a heightened, agitated state (sympathetic nervous system activation) to a state of calm and relaxation (parasympathetic nervous system activation).
“Wow, your paintings are so healing. It’s like what I’m doing in therapy! I find myself unlocking parts of my awareness, making connections. The colors, shapes and lines all bring about different responses, as my eyes move back and forth from the big picture to the subtle scenes that take time to come into focus, and I go around and around the painting in this way.”

3. EMOTIONAL EXPRESSION IS KEY TO GOOD HEALTH
Have you ever heard Joseph Campbell’s famous expression follow your bliss?’ Well sometimes our bliss gets lost in the myriad of mundane tasks, or is buried under other emotions that need acknowledgement before we even know what our bliss is. It’s important to have a space to explore even the most non-rational and random parts of ourselves.. That’s where art comes in.
Suppressing emotions can be incredibly detrimental to one's mental and physical well-being. Emotions are a natural and beautiful part of human existence and allow individuals to process their experiences, communicate with others, and make decisions. When emotions are suppressed, individuals may experience a range of negative effects, such as anxiety, depression, chronic stress, and even physical health problems.
The good news is that art is a powerful and easy approach to help solve this problem. Having an art collection is not just about acquiring physical objects to decorate your space. It’s also about surrounding yourself with creative expressions that have the power to evoke emotions. And with that power comes permission - permission to feel your emotions, whatever they may be.

5. ART, LIKE FLOWER ESSENCES, CAN HOLD A FREQUENCY FOR YOU TO CALIBRATE WITH
Flower essences have long been used as a therapeutic tool for various ailments both physical and emotional. At its core, flower essence therapy works by using the energy and essence of different flowers to address varying aspects of a person’s wellbeing.
The practice of flower essence therapy is based on the idea that the vibrational energy of each flower holds the potential to support a positive shift and healing outcome.. This vibrational energy can be captured and concentrated through a variety of methods, including solarization or boiling in water resulting in a potent extract known as a flower essence.
When a person takes a flower essence, the energy of the flower is believed to interact with their own energy field, supporting positive change.
Good art is a magnificent creation that holds within it a similar ability to heal by way of its vibrational essence. Much like flower essences, the ENERGY holds a specific vibration that resonates and holds this tone to affect the energy in a space.
Just as we are drawn to certain flowers to help balance and harmonize our inner being, we are also naturally drawn to art, which has the potential to be a powerful presence for harmonizing and growth.
